Re: How do you prevent supply from going down?
This sounds like my son to a 'T'. At 12 months I thought he was weaning and I was heartbroken. But I decided that since he was 12 months I wasn't going to worry over it and let nature take its course. If he weaned, then so be it. And if he wanted to nurse more then okay fine.
The cool thing about nursing past a year is that it takes a VERY long time for your milk to stop. You will be making milk months after he weans. Your breasts are smaller now because they are adjusting to the correct amount your toddler needs. If he nurses more, they will make more.
My son has gone from strike to nursing every 2 hours to strike to every 2 hours since he was 12 months. Toddler nursing is just like that, sometimes they need more sometimes they need less.
I'm sure you will do the right thing for you and your nursling. I just wanted to share from another perspective of other options. Congrats on making it to one year and enjoy the nursing you're doing!!!
