I had to stop her from nursing after her nap today. I gave in saying, "just for a minute." Then I had to stop her because it hurt so much. I still have milk so I'm sooo. It just hurts. But she stroked my face and said, "it's ok mom" and asked for milk in a bottle. I offered her cold milk and her response? "It's so cold??" Gosh I love my kid. She makes me go through the full range of all the emotions I can name. From sorrow to joy to unconditional love all in 5 minutes.

Hoping it goes well for you and your sweet LO. She seems to be handling it really well. It's wonderful that you still have some milk and if she really needs it she can still nurse. It'll help it go more easily for her. I just mention this because DS had to stop weaning (at 4mth PG) before either of us were ready because the milk ran out and there were a few times when he wanted to nurse after that and there was nothing there. In retrospect, I kind of wish I'd taken control before the milk went so the occasional nursing session would've been possible when he was really having a kiki crisis.

Agonized over it, yes, and still worry about how her seeing me nursing another LO will affect her but yes I thought long and hard about it.

You ladies have always been so wonderful and forthcoming with advice and perspective and I so needed to get this off my chest and get some support/good wishes. Thank you all for your kind words.

ETA: I'm glad I waited until her interest was at a minimum and for a time when she accepted other forms of comfort readily. That will always make me feel good about our nursing relationship.
