I am not saying your DH is like this, but my DH often says DH cried all day when in reality he didn't. He is not lying he just really sees it that way sometimes. (Other days his mindset is right and DH is a little more mellow and they have the most fun in the world) Sometimes when my DS is in an especially high needs stage and it is DH's day to have him I will often get texts and calls saying all he has done is scream, or I will come home to hear that he has cried all day and didn't nap. If I call back in the day DS is always quiet and cooing/babbling or napping. My DH just has a tendency to always see the worst and forget about the good. My DH is a worrier and I think the tendencies go hand in hand. Is it possible that this is the case with your DH?

(I should state that DS is generally a happy baby if you are willing to interact with him 24/7 but is capable of not napping and never really has taken naps that are much longer than 1/2 hr)
proud but exhausted working mammy to two high needs babies

    • my surprise baby: the one and only D-Man born 3 weeks late (5/5/08) at 9 lbs 14 oz and 21.5 inches, and
    • the shock H-Girl born about a week late (10/7/09) at 8lbs 15oz and 20.75 inches.

If I am here I am covered in baby (probably two) and fighting for control of the keyboard.

    Family beds are awesome

Wondering if you have PPD? Take the screening and see your doctor. You deserve to feel better.

I think that could be it too. I think they just get frustrated more than we do with stuff. Over all he is a good baby for me feeds every 3 hours and naps a good hour and half in between and sleeps 7 hours through the night.. Hopefully it is just cuz of the first couple of weeks a transition of me not constantly being around.

Thank you everyone for all the suggestions and help. Hopefully it will get better

I agree that it will take some time for your LO to get used to your DH taking care of him during the day. However, if it were me, when you are with your LO I wouldn't be going to the back room to let DH take care of him... Just saying, when you are in the house, your LO knows you are there and wonders why mama isn't coming to take care of him. Plus, if your DH has been taking care of your LO all day during the week, it would be nice of you to give him a break on the weekends.

If I were you, mama, I wouldn't change anything else during this time of transition for your LO... the easiest thing for your LO would probably be to keep nursing him when you are together, and just give it more time for him to get used to your DH caring for him... they will figure it out, for sure!!

And here's a bit more food for thought... I know you are trying to be helpful giving your DH tips for caring for your LO, but honestly, what works for you, might not work for your DH? If he's anything like my DH, he gets a bit offended when I try to jump in and tell him how to do things with our LO.

    Good luck mama...
