    Default Increasing milk supply question

This is my first time post and am a first time mom. I have a 4 month old and she is primarily on breastmilk. Right now morning feeds are going fine but afternoon its been a challenge . I have been trying to take enough fliuds and resting when i can but sometimes i see that the baby feeds more often in the afternoon. A few times I had to give the baby at least 2-3 ounces of formula as well.
I am taking fenugreek supplements, fennel etc and trying to pump (should i do that after everyt feed ?) to increase the supply. Is there anything else i can do ? Also will pumping in the morning encourage more milk production throughout the day ?
    Thanks!

Eating oatmeal really works for me.

Yes, if you pump after every feeding it will help increase your supply.

Remember too, that it is normal for your supply to be lower in the evening.

    Thank you !
As I understand Diet should include : Oatmeal, fenugreek supplements , fennel etc as well as Pumping after each feed.

How often should I have the oatmeal. Is it good for breakfast times only ?

I think it is good whenever. I have seen moms post that they have it a few times a day. I mostly eat it for breakfast, but sometimes will have another bowl for a snack in the afternoon. Make sure you use real oats, not instant. (I didn't realize that at first and got instant b/c I thought it would be quicker.) There is a book called Motherfood that may be interesting to you that discusses galactogenic foods and herbs.

There is actually conflicting info on this. I read somewhere originally too that it should always be old fashioned or steel cut oats. Then someone here pointed out an article on Kellymom that said any kind will work. Right now I am only doing instant and it is still working.

This is true. Instant works for me also.

I will eat oatmeal sometimes for breakfast or sometimes in the afternoon because I work part time in the evenings which is when I pump
