    Default Diaper Rash

My DS came up with a pretty bad diaper rash. His behind is very red and he cries when I wipe it. It breaks my heart. I am using Butt Paste but I was just wondering what diaper cream you all use?

Do you know what kind of rash it is? Just a regular diaper rash or could it be yeast? There are a few of us that have been battling yeast rashes lately.

Nolan had never had a "regular" diaper rash, but if he was in a diaper for a longer amount of time for some reason we always would use Burt's Bees or Butt Paste.

we've had to come up with a variety of ways to deal with ours. i keep up with it to keep it away. First i gave her bum lots of air time. i'd lay a diaper under her, a change pad under her & an old blanket under that. Next i used penetans throughout the night (Ialso did bum changes during the night until it started really improving). During the day i would alternate between cornstarch & penentans. i found this really worked for us. you may want to switch from wipes to a warm cloth as it might be more soothing. As well when your done wiping your lo up give the skin time to dry before putting the diaper on. GOOD LUCK

I agree with Hummingbird, air is the best healer.
I tried Balmex with my first child and it broke him out more. So I used Bag Balm (look in the pet section) and still swear by it. I use it for my second child whom also has a sensitive bum, but to diaper wipes.

Myself and my sister in law have used just plain Vitamin E oil on the bum, works awesome. (works for anything! cuts...rashes..)

I have also used Aquaphor. It worked pretty good too.

You can also use breastmilk instead of a cream!

We started using Butt Paste when our pedi suggested using something with zinc and haven't had any rash since. I also give her bottom a chance to dry after wiping so that I don't lock moisture near the skin. I accidentally bought scented wipes when K was 5 or 6 weeks and they really bothered her skin.
