Default What? When? How often? And other questions.

I've been hearing a lot about Fenugreek, oatmeal, regular milk, and some other things. I was wondering the following:

What process should I take to up my milk production? What should I be consuming to up my milk production? What are the side effects of the consumed items? How will the side effects effect my children? How often should I consume said items? How long should I consume said items? What is the optimum schedule for increasing my milk supply? (To include house chores, and working out.) Is there anything else I should know about increasing my milk supply?(I.E. things that can hinder it)

Here is some info on me and why these questions were raised.

I'm 21 and had twins. My left 'tit', as my dh calls it, produces a lot less than my right. I'm lucky to get less than or equal to a half ounce from it. My right, hehe, it produces equal to or more than four ounces. That's even after the kids have feasted upon that breast.

I don't mean one kid goes at one feeding, I mean both go at it at that feeding. If you are wondering how I do it, one normally sleeps while the other is eating. After child A, Kori, is done feeding Child B, Dain, wakes up and begins to feed on it. I have tried this same senario with my left tit.

Have you checked out kellymom (http://www.kellymom.com/herbal/milks...nugreek.html)? Fenugreek worked GREAT for upping my supply. I actually switched to real seeds (http://www.nutsonline.com/seedsspices/fenugreek.html), which worked just as well & was a LOT cheaper.

    Good for you, nursing twins!!

One more thought - you mention pumping in the same sentence with getting things done. Have you considered the Medela Freestyle? http://www.medelafreestyle.com/. I love mine because I pump while driving, sweeping, cooking, you name it! You can find it for $285pp at http://bestbuybaby.com/mefrhafrbr.html.

No Freestyle but Lactina plus from WIC. Looking into getting a PIS.

If you're buying a pump, the Freestyle is about the same price or only slightly more expensive than the PIS, and it works just as well (pumping-wise). Plus, it has the benefit of mobility. Check it out before you make your final decision; I wish I had because I ended up buying a PIS and THEN the Freestyle (sigh).

Oatmeal always worked for me so I never tried the other supplements. I would eat a minimum of 2 bowls a day when my supply was low or needing to come in right after birth. Once my supply is where I need it to be then I dropped to one bowl a day or every other day. It's great now since DS likes it for breakfast too so I just make a big batch on the stove then reheat as needed.

Update! Just bought some Fenugreek Seeds and Mother Time Tea. Who knew you could get it on EBT?. Will most likely get more after hubby gets paid and I learn how to use it.

Looked there. What I'm looking into is how to prepare Fenugreek seeds. That is to use 'em as either tea or something else.
