    Default Starting an Allergy Diet?

    Hi there,

My LO is 5 months old and I'm preparing to start solids when she's 6 months. I have a long history of allergies, hayfever, ezcema so I'm wondering if anyone has any resources to share or tips in starting solids.

I'm nervous as I am hypersensitive to many foods.

    Thank you!

These are my two favorite resources online:

My favorite book (written by the same person who wrote the above fact sheets): "Dealing with food allergies in babies and children"

its ok to delay aslo and start very slowly with solids...
they aren't needed much for babies younger then a year

watch the baby and not the callender

don't be shocked if your toddler will just not eat much!
Lots of kids with tummy troubles don't eat much before they are a year or even 2 years old.

I have been using an excellent book recommended to me by my Nutritionist. (I have a digestive disorder that I do not want my 8 month old to inherit.) It is called Superimmunity for Kids by Leo Galland, M.D. It is geared toward introducing foods in a way that will aide the digestive system in its development to prevent allergies and digestive problems.
I would skip rice cereal and try oatmeal and introduce green beans early. I loved the winter squash because we had it in our garden, but I found that too much squash was constipating. Same with the rice cereal.
    Good luck!!!

    Thanks for your thoughts!
