DD is 20 months and only nurses before bed or once in a blue moon in the morning if she catches me undressed. She is fine if Dad or nana puts her down with no milk when I am not home and some nights she will skip the milk and just read stories and sing. We have gone as long as 5 or 6 days with no milk and when she does "drink" it is literally 10-30 seconds on each side. I would like her to wean possibly before christmas or maybe even thanksgiving as I have had to eliminate all dairy from my diet due to her allergy and I really would like to enjoy some holliday food with dairy and a slice of PIZZA soon. I love nursing my daughter and I will greatly miss our special times but I feel like she really does not need it much any more. I want to be a gently as possible but slightly encourage her to wean. I originally never knew I would nurse this long and was stressed about whether I would make it to my goal of 1 year. Will I feel guilty if I wean her and she gets a cold this winter? I am not sure immunilogically if I would make that much of a difference with the extremely minimal nursing that she is currently doing anyway. Help always appreciated.
