Thread: advice on shipping milk

    Default advice on shipping milk

I'm going to be out of town for an entire week for work. This trip popped up on me unexpected, so I don't have enough milk stored for an entire week. I'm planning on pumping while I'm away and shipping the milk home. Any advice on how to ship it? I won't have access to a car, so I'm trying to pack whatever I need. Do I need to bring boxes? Or can I use the FedEx boxes? Do I need to pack it with dry ice or are those blue ice packs okay? I'll have access to a freezer, so I can freeze my milk before I send it.

    Thanks for the help!

I have seen instructions for shipping milk on milkshare.com. The website is about donating milk. I think instructions for shipping are under the donor agreement. I think dry ice and a cooler are recommended for shipping...It also gives guidelines on what service to use and how to label. Good luck.
