What solids is your LO eating and how often?

Major constipation causers can include rice cereal, bananas, and apples. I've found carrots give DD constipation as well. We stopped cereal and bananas altogether to prevent it.

It helps to cut back on the amount of solids your LO is getting. A little bit of water can help during meals. And, if absolutely necessary, I've found that an ounce or two (at the most) of apple-prune juice will do the trick within a few hours.

She's almost 7 months now. I cut out the banana and cereal a few days ago and today we're just sticking to BM only.
How do make the prune juice - do you use the juice from tinned prunes?

    Thanks!

I actually bought a version at the store - ready-made apple-prune juice. It was from Gerber. That worked the fastest for us. But I also used Earth's Best pear juice once and that also helped things along.

Pureed prunes can also help, but not as quickly IME.

Last night we gave Nolan some pureed prunes and about 2 hours later all that backed up poo was in his dipe!

I think it just depends on the baby.

Great! Thanks for the advice. I'll give the prunes a try.

Bananas and rice were big constipation culprits for my DD. You can just play with taking certain things out and see what helps.
