Default difference b/w day and night feedings???

For my greatest sorrow my dd refuses to brestfeed during the day however she eats from the breast at night (10 pm - 8 am) without any fuss or complains.
Not that it makes it any better for me but it just makes me wonder - what is the difference between feedings during the day and night? Why does she take the breast at night and when she is falling asleep or just about to wake up? Is there any scientific explanation about that?

    thanks for any ideas!!!

do you try to nurse her during the day when she is sleepy or just waking up from a nap? DD has reflux and sometimes when she is wide awake she protests nursing (by screaming at the top of her lungs) but has no problems w/ it when she is sleepy. i have just always thought that when they are sleepy they tend to nurse instinctively or reflexively (is that a word??? ) and are less apt to protest whatever it is that bothers them when wide awake. if i am having a day where i cannot get her to nurse i usually will just try to soothe her to sleep and then she will nurse fine when just waking up. i don't know if that helps you necessarily, but that is my take on the difference btwn night & day feedings...
