    Default EPING and weaning...need advice

I, like mommyoflance, EP. However, at a year I do NOT want to pump any longer. For those of you that EPed how did you make the transition from pumping to other fluids? How much cows milk will she need since she won't be getting any EBM? I finally got BFing and EPing down and now I'm at a loss again! I don't want her to get dehydrated...will she just gradually drink less milk?

how often is she nursing at the breast?

LOts of moms find that they can nurse a few times a day for many months or even years.

Remember too as long as baby is nursing well 3-4 times in 24 hours they don't need extra milk or formula.

    3-4 times isn't that often

how many times are you pumping now.
Slowly cut out pumpings! You don't want to risk breast infection or plugged ducts.
Some mothers find they can just sorten the time spent pumping for a few days. And then as milk supply adjusts cut out that one pumping session all togeher.

awe I was thinking she didn't nurse at the breast any but I couldn't remember....
weaning will be the same as if she was.

Slowly cut out pumping sessions one at a time.

your body will adjust and make less milk

the slower you do it the less engorgement problems you'll have.

Till your down to just pumping one time a day.

    You can do it.
As you cut out sessions you might get to the point were you don't mind pumpig as much.
And thats ok, over time your fealings might change.

My daughter is 16 months old and I still exclusively pump.

I want to stop, but I worry. She only likes fruits, pasta and cheerios right now. She has access to cheerios most of the day and nibbles on them throughout. I still have a hard time believing though that just those food items and cows milk would be good for her though. I worry about her not getting the proper nutrition since she's not that much of a solid eater right now, which is why I haven't stopped yet.

I'm down to three times a day though and it's not that bad. I wouldn't mind dropping down to two, though. We're still working on getting her to drink more cows milk to supplement my reduced output (though it's still pretty high -- around 30oz / day depending on where I am in my cycle).

Right now she gets 5 - 7 oz of cows milk a day, mixed in with the breast milk we give her (4 8oz bottles a day).

The pediatrician seemed surprised she drinks so much in a day. But we're getting better at offering her solids more frequently.

She doesn't like sippys though. We end up with one of two problems:
    1) If they're the no leak kind, she doesn't like that she has to suck to get fluids
    2) If they're the leaking kind, she'd much rather shake it and spread it all over.

We only give her water in case 2. I've tried juice and milk in a sippy and she just will have none of it.

Although we did find out she really likes pepperoni yesterday. That was unexpected.

    I got my VBAC!

Struggling with nursing but one way or another breast milk is all they get.

DD eats A LOT! So, I'm thinking w/ 3 meals ans snacks that she should be fine (especially since she eats a lot of diary products - cheese, yougart, cottage cheese....). How much "Milk" - cows or BM should she have in a day??

as long as they are getting 3 servings of mommas milk in 24 hours then they don't need any other milk or cow's milk products.
