Thread: dosage of domperidon

    Question dosage of domperidon

Is 1200mg of domperidone safe dosage? Does reducing it after increase in milk supply reduce the milk supply back?

sorry, I don't know how to add links, but I'm pretty sure that Dr. Jack Newman's site has good info on Domperidone. Should be in the Breastfeeding Help section

Are you sure it's 1200? I just checked Dr. Newman's site and he mentions dosage in the 90-160mg/day range.

Hey thanks so much for referring me to dr Newman's site....and you both were right about dose ...1200 is really too high and it should be b/w 90-160mg. Dunno where i got that 1200 figure.....

I am taking Dom. and I believe the starting dosage Dr. Newman's website recommends is something like 3 pills 3x per day. So total, in one day, you would be taking 90mg. That is what I am taking and seems to be working, but I know another mama on these boards was taking 120mg per day and she had great results relactating. I am not "relactating" per se, but my supply had gotten pretty low, and now it is back to where I think it should be.

I definitely recommend checking out the guidance on Dr. Newman's website.

    Good luck!!
