Thanks everyone! And congratulations to you too Noahsmommy! When DS was born I knew that I wanted to breastfeed but I didn't know how it would go. Everyone asked how long I planned on nursing and I always said as long as it works for us. I didn't want to put a time frame around it but I figured I wanted to shoot for a year. Well, I'm glad I'm a stubborn mule and fought my way through some of our early problems because the rewards of nursing now and never having to pay for any type of food for LO have been SO worth it. It helps that I've had DH's support and the support of a great pediatric GI specialist who told us that breastfeeding is the best thing I can do for DS's problems and to help prevent him from having the same problems my DH has. DH is now upset that his mom didn't nurse him for longer! I just hope that he will continue to support me when the comments from his family start, and I know they will start now that DS is over a year.
Someone on a parenting board told another poster who was having nursing problems early on to "stick with it because over this hill is the promised land of nursing" and she was right. If you can stick out the hardships early on, it is soooooo great at the other end.
