    Default Cleaning pump tubing

Can pump tubing be cleaned or does it just have to be replaced?

They can be boiled- i have noticed it dries with water spots, but i assume it's still sterile. Also my steaming bag (medela brand) gives instructions to steam/sterilize.

Many mothers have found that they can soak the tubing in hot soapy water, and play with the tubing to get some water inside. Then run hot water through the tubing to get the soap out. Finally, go outside and swing the tubing around over your heard, to fling out most of the water, then drip dry over night.

If you can't get them clean, then it's most likely time to invest in a new set of tubing, but cleaning is relatively easy, so good to try it.

The steam bag from Medela works great and it can be used 20 times (I think).

In the future it helps to run the pump for a minute or so after you're done pumping to dry out the condensation in the tubing. Generally you have to live with the water or steam spots I've found.
