mama! You did a beautiful job nursing Z as long as you did, and weaning was done in a loving and gentle manner. I know its hard, but chin up...you did the right and best thing for your children!
All over the world there exists in every society a small group of women who feel themselves strongly attracted to giving care to other women during pregnancy and childbirth. Failure to make use of this group of highly motivated people is regrettable and a sin against the principle of subsidiary. ~ Dr. Kloosterman, Chief of OB/GYN, Univ. of Amsterdam, Holland

You are a wonderful mom. Z was weaned gradually and with love, you were able to put this off until he was 2. Not everyone in your situation would have been so dedicated to her children's best interest.
Proud mom of 2 boys, both weaned gradually and with love.

OMG, please do not ever think that you are by any means a failure. Do you have any idea how envious I am that you were able to BF for that long? I struggle to make one year and feel like my body is winding down and I don't have the circumstances you do.

Z weaned in a loving way, but remember you fed, comforted, bonded for all those months and the bright, energic, trusting, awesome kid he is today is largely do to the commitment you made to BF him all those months (years). He shares a bond with you that can never be broken, even if he doesn't remember every detail, his memory and personality are molded to form better bonds with people to trust that he will be care for, etc, because he remembers the bond you two had/have.

Don't ever for a second not believe in that power and that you gave him a beautiful start!

I wish I could have nursed that long.

I had to wean my son off BM at 8.5 months old because of my own health issues.

You did an awesome job by going at it as long as you did.
