Default am i pumping enough to maintain supply?

I am temporarily pumping exclusively. My son is 5 weeks old. He is taking 4oz about 8 times a day. I am only pumping about 6 times a day, but I get a minimum of 6oz, usually 7 or 8 oz. So I am actually getting more than he needs in a day. Is it okay that I am only pumping every 4-5 hours rather than every 2-3? Will this hurt my supply?

I EP and I have maintained supply pumping 6 times a day. I have been doing it since he was about 6 weeks, and he is 9 months now.

As long as you pump in 24 hours at least as much as your baby takes in 24 hours, then your pumping schedule is fine.

Good luck with this temporary situation. Please let us know if you need more help.
