They make pretty neat noises when you crinkle them...of course, just be careful with the suffocation hazards of playing with bags.

DS has the same obsession. I don't let him near plastic, but it can be hilarious to watch him shred the junk mail . Finally a use for the stuff. I just have to watch closely to make sure he doesn't try to eat any. He's just over 5 mos, and I don't thick paper is a good first solid

I keep a couple sturdy envelops in Chance's toy box. He loves to lie on his tummy and crinkle up paper. He likes plastic too. So I made a fabric block and stuffed it with plastic bags. He gets to hear them crinkle and can't suffocate or otherwise hurt himself.

Great idea! She loves her "crinkle" books I have for her. She seems to gum off pieces of cardboard though...

DS LOVES all paper as well and screams when I take it away. One thing to watch id that newsprint has a trace amt. of lead (I've been told) so don't let them tear up newsprint

we give our six month old an unopened packet of crisps it seems to satisfy the urges you describe and doesn't seem too hazardous!
