    Default Approx ounces eaten?

Can anyone tell me the approximate amount of ounces that a 5 week old baby should be eating?? I have a full milk supply and can pump about 5 ounces in five minutes... does this mean that my baby is eating that much when she nurses for 5 minutes? She eats for about 10-15 min at each feeding off of one side. Thanks!

babies are much beter at nursing than a pump is. Your baby might be gettting more or less.
The best thing to do if your worried about how much baby is getting is to count diapars.

I've been told that an EBF baby should get twice their weight in milk. When I went back to work, I had to figure out how much milk she should be drinking at each feeding. I had no idea because I never gave her a bottle. Another nursing mom told me to multiply her weight by 2 and then divide by the number of times she nursed a day. 14 lb baby that eats 7x/day should drink about 4 oz each time.

If you're just trying to figure out if your baby is getting enough milk, go by the wet diaper count as suggested by andrea_ohio.
