Turkey (that was our first one)
    Chicken
    Tofu
    Egg Yolk
    Cheese
    Yogurt
    Beans- kidney, lima, baked, black

We tried all of those at around 10 months.

Quinoa, it's the only grain that is a complete protein. Rinse well to remove bitterness.

For those that are giving meat- are you giving purees, or pieces of your own? I tried the pureed chicken in broth, and lo didn't seem to like the texture- it was kind of gritty...

At that age my DS was taking chicken and beans.

    We don't/didn't puree anything...

We didn't do pureed meat with ds1 either. I would give him meat in tiny pieces or shreaded. Cooking it until it is really soft is key. ds1 seemed to like chicken/turkey the best.

    Shredding is our key.

We didn't puree the meat, I just use a spoon to hold the meat and a fork to give it that shredded texture and he did okay with it.

I also recently discovered he likes shredded cheese, so my grater is getting a workout these days!
