    Default Store bought food

So I was checking out the babyfood at the grocery store to get some ideas on how to mix up our homemade babyfood when I noticed that Gerber has a fruit mix consisting of bananas and strawberries (stage 2). I thought it wasn't recommended to give babies strawberries before they turned a year old? I also noticed that Earth's Best had a veggie combo (stage 3) that had egg whites in it. Aren't babies only suppose to be given the egg yolk?

    You're 100% correct.

The store foods being so random (and seemingly off base) really pushed me to make my own

the cost is what put me off of jarred foods.
The same thing in the other parts of the store are at least 1/2 the cost of the baby food ilse.
Remember too that most of the things written about starting solids are written by gerber and of corse they want you to think you need jar after jar of mashed up foods.
