I am not sure, you would need to contact a LLL of an IBCLC to get them to reference Thomas Hale's book, medicines and mother's milk. All the best!

Prozac "Fluoxetine" appears in milk in higher amounts than most other antidepressants; it is very long-acting; and side effects (colic, fussiness, and drowsiness) have been reported in breastfed babies during the use of this drug. It should avoided if the baby is less than one month old, but an older infant can probably tolerate it better. If fluoxetine is needed, the benefits of breastfeeding probably outweigh the risks to the infsnt, but watch carefully for side effects.

It is my understanding that Zoloft is the antidepressant of choice for breastfeeding mothers, but I agree that you would be best advised to consult an LLL leader or IBCLC. Is your psychiatrist supportive of breastfeeding?
