This recipe was great thanks. However the cookies came out kinda flat for me and though good for you I thought I could tweak it a bit. So here is my version you can use any dried fruit or nut to substitute for the cherries and walnuts, and you can use margarine instead of the butter if you like. If you use all purpose flour instead of whole wheat only use 1 teaspoon of baking powder.

Oatmeal Cherry Walnut Lactation Cookies by netsecuremom

    1 cup butter
    1 cup sugar
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
    6 tablespoons water
    3 tablespoons flax seed meal
    2 eggs
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    2 cups whole wheat flour
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    2 teaspoons baking powder
    1 teaspoon salt
    3 cups oats
    1 cup dried cherries
    1 to 1 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
    2-4 tablespoons brewer's yeast

    Preheat oven to 350°.
Mix the flaxseed meal and water and let sit for 3-5 minutes.
Beat butter till light and fluffy then add sugar, and brown sugar.
Once sugar is well mixed add eggs and mix well.
Add flaxseed mix and vanilla, beat well.
Sift together flour, brewers yeast, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
Add dry ingredients to butter mix.
Stir in oats, fruit and nuts.
    Scoop onto baking sheet.
Bake for 15 minutes or until cookies are golden brown around the edges and the cookies seem set in the middle.
Let set for a couple minutes then remove from tray.

Can you use Brewer's Yeast in pill form (crushed of course) for this recipe? I haven't seen brewer's yeast that's not in pill form. Thanks!
