don't tell but popcorn was one of the 1st things my kids had.
Hubby would sit in the chair.
And as soon as they could get over to him he would give it to them....

I didn't like it but that wasn't a battle I was willing to fight and they are all still alive.

RAw veggies are sort of tricky, the are so hard they were older when they tried them. With teeth.

DD has already had popcorn, apples with the peel on, and tortilla chips. Not sure when I'll do raw veggies, but it'll be a while on the nuts and seeds due to allergies.

When did you offer the following foods?

Popcorn? - Not yet, mainly because I'm not a fan.

Raw veggies? - Carrots, zucchini at about 18 months? Guesstimate.

Apples WITH peels? - From the very beginning. We used to peel them but she prefers to eat the skin.

Tortilla Chips? - DH gave her some at 19 or 20 months. I'm not a fan of THAT.

Nuts? - Aside from peanut butter she has had no nuts, unless you count the sliced almonds that garnish my banana bread or that I put in the oatmeal (while it's cooking to tenderizer them a little). She's also had cashews - crushed, in a pilaf that DH makes - again added while cooking. I'm wondering about the nuts myself as I love almonds and she is majorly interested in whatever we're eating. This is the one thing that I will not let her have...too afraid she will choke.

Seeds? - only what the put in the granola or flaxseeds. This was recently for the granola.

Thumbs up Re: Toddler food questions....

Popcorn? Nope - doesn't have much "food value" and we go for calories around here.

Raw veggies? Don't remember. We did BLS and DS has taken bites of my food pretty much since the beginning.

Apples WITH peels? From the beginning. If DS didn't want to eat the peel he'd spit it back out into my hand.

    Tortilla Chips?
Probably around 18 or 19 mo.

Nuts? Nope - DS allergic to tree nuts & peanuts

    Seeds?
Nope - DS allergic to sesame and avoiding all seeds

    (Lyn - you've already done flax, I think. That's a seed.)

Thanks! I guess what I mean by nuts and seeds are just offering them whole, as a snack. Like almonds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, etc.

I think our issue is, Daniel is going through a phase where he takes BIG bites. Today he choked and gagged on a piece of apple. So hard foods scare me cause hes a bit of a rush-eater lately and perhaps isn't chewing as well as he should.

Popcorn? Around 18 months. Delicious and nutritious when made with coconut oil .

Raw veggies? Starting around 9 months, as teethers and then continuously as she wants.

Apples WITH peels? Again, when I intro'd apples, around 7 months, but she usually eats round the peel (excpet on yellow apples when she can't actually see it.) I think she learned it at the babysitters, because we eat the peels 'round here .

Tortilla Chips? I'm not sure, but it was a while ago.

Nuts? We started nuts around 14 months.

Seeds? Around the same time as nuts.
