If your baby is growing well, I don't think you should be worried about anything. My baby boy doesn't seem to eat much solid either. He loves Cheerios though. When we first tried it, he almost chocked on it but now he put about 6 in his mouth at a time. I need to slow him down. He doesn't eat much of pureed fruit except when I mixed with organic yogurt. He loves pureed sweet potato but again will eat only half jar (one jar is when we're out and he's so hungry). He doesn't like to try new food either. I have difficult times feeding him protein, he would eat only 2 tiny spoons and no more. I nursed him almost every 2 hours too before I started working full time. Because he doesn't eat much solids, I'm happy nursing him in the night, at least 4 times. Very tired but worth it. I'll try new food this week and hope that he will eat more.

Lo is 12 months and nurses every 2 to 3 hours during the hours of 5 am to 9 pm. I would not force the foods to much. we started offering purees at 9 months and she hated them. we got started mashing our foods or putting them in a food processor and she took them very well. I think she likes all the taste of our foods vs those baby foods. We started with green beans and such, stuff we could mash with a fork. She eats 2 meals a day and 2 snacks at this point in addition to the nursing. I assume you are giving a iron suppliment. Are you just doing soilds for practice or because of the anemia? If it is for introduction then I would take it slow and easy. Weight is good and baby is happy. Are you trying to wean?

yes, we looked into reflux. that was the first thing. And he didnt have it. meds did nothing to help him. We went to all the specialists. We have great insurance that pays for absolutely everything/anywhere.

The rice cereal is good for iron. thats the main reason we do it. LO is anemic.

Yes, LO is anemic and so I am trying to give high iron foods.

rice cereal, fruits, squash, pureed spinach, avocado (he hates it) but we he eats it. carrots, peas, bananas.

I try to give him small pieces of any of those, and he doesnt do well with pieces. he chokes and doesnt break it down.
What if you try table food that is soft and easy to break down... something that dissolves in his mouth like a half of a cheerio or a piece of a cracker? I like to give my 11 month old regular organic rice crispies breakfast cereal. Its the perfect size and they dissolve in her mouth. Some amount of gagging etc is normal with learning to chew/gum and swallow non pureed foods. Babies gums are sharp so they should be able to break down small pieces of soft foods with or without teeth.

Your post seems like my posts months ago. (My son is 22 months old now.) Refusal to nurse (+refusal to bottles, cups etc...), reflux medication that didn't work, refusal of solids..... I think the refusal to nurse in our case was related to teething plus curiosity about the environment. Those teeth rise and stop rise and stop hurt and stop hurt and stop for months before they come out and some babies are very sensitive to that pain. Mine was and still is. For the solids stuff we took our son to a feeding clinic and occupational therapy which helped a lot in terms of teaching us how to feed him. For getting used to stuff with textures I started by giving him cottage cheese. Then I started making him alphabet pasta with pureed meat and veggies then gave him a spoon and let him play with it, try to feed himself and in the meantime I fed him with another spoon. Worked great. You can PM me if you have any specific questions.
