New to all of this. Am reading all your posts with interest and wish I had signed up earlier!
My daughter is 29 months and seems to be weaning herself. For many months, she was only feeding to get to sleep and sometimes first thing in the morning - so max 3 times a day but usually twice.
However, about 2 months ago she started sleeping through the night (first time ever!) and as such seems a lot less interested in the breast altogether. She seems to need the breast as a cue to sleep but literally sucks for about a minute max, I don't feel any milk coming out, don't hear her swallowing and then she says 'that's enough' and asks me to sing or tell her a story and we cuddle until she's asleep. I haven't yet managed to get her to go to sleep without first the breast in her mouth but sometimes it is like only for 15 secs...
So, my question really is whether the milk supply is still being stimulated at all and whether when she finally stops needing to suck to sleep I won't feel any other physical changes. Or will I have what others describe as a feeling of engorgement and milk pouring out until it settles down?
Thanks for anyone's experience on this.
