Alasdair will be 10 months next week. We still co-sleep, and he sleeps in our bed for naps. He still eats a lot throughout the night, too (which I'm hoping will start to stop). My question: I would like to start being able to put him down for naps without nursing him to sleep. From there, I plan to incorporate that into our nightly sleep schedule, slowly cutting out more and more feedings until we can sleep straight through from 11-6, or so.
Today, it worked. I fed him in the morning and again about an hour + half later, then put him to sleep about 15 minutes after eating. We laid in bed together. He wanted to comfort nurse, but I kept stroking his head and belly, and finally, after about 25 minutes, he passed out. Again this afternoon, I was away and he was with my husband. He fell asleep with him as soon as he got tired.
I hope this will continue---but it's the first day.
Does this sound like an ok routine?
What worked for you? thanks for sharing.
