Default how do I find a lactation consultant in my area?

I live in kind of a remote rural area - how do I find a lactation consultant in my area?

And do they all charge for services, or are some of them free? Thanks!

Most IBCLCs charge for their services. Some do offer free consults or sliding scale for mothers in financial need. You can always ask.

If you're looking for free support, have you tried your local LLL Leader? What about a WIC peer counselor?

My pediatrician had a list of local lactation consultants. I'm sure each consultant has varying fees. The consultant I used charged $75 per visit.

try the web site here to find a LLL leader in your area
    She's free

find local support pull down in the grey bar at the top
    pull down usa
    and then your state

if you cann't find somebody close go for the next area
Sometimes there are leaders in areas where groups don't meet

    good luck
