    Default crispy nipple



    my nipples dont hurt, aren't cracked and he nurses fine...and i pump well...but i just touched my nipple & it seems crispy. am i in for problems? my son is 5 weeks tomorrow. is it normal?

    Do you mean your nipple is dry? Maybe try expressing some milk and rub into your nipples after feedings, then air dry? If that isn't helping, perhaps try a thin layer of Lansinoh, olive oil, or other breastfeeding-safe moisturizer.

    it is dry, but not like dry skin type dry, if i touch it it seems hard to the touch which is why I called it crispy -- they do air dry but i don't use lanolin on them because those feel sticky to me and I don't like how that feels. I have heard about cracked & bleeding nipples and although mine aren't cracked or bleeding (or ever have) I would think that this is how they would feel to the touch if they were going to be cracked soon...if that makes sense.
