    Unhappy too late to breast feed?

    my baby is 6 weeks old and has only been formula fed. Is it too late to breast feed? she has been having trouble the last couple of days w/ formula. Please help, I would like to do both formula and breast milk thanks

    call your local lll leader or lc and they can help.
    You'll have to get a good pump and start pumping.

    Hi limaz06, and welcome to these boards!

    Good for you for exploring the option of breastfeeding. There's a board here that deals specifically with your situation -- starting to breastfeed after you've stopped or even when you've never started: Relactation


    Post over there and I'm sure you'll get lots of resources.

    You will need to start pumping frequently with a good (hospital-grade double-electric) pump, and you will probably need some guidance for helping you and your baby learn to latch and breastfeed. I agree with Andrea about contacting a local LLL Leader or a lactation consultant with the IBCLC credential after her name.

    About the pump comment above, I'd rent one to begin with just to see. Plus the rental ones are top of the line and pump better. Hope this works for you!
