Smile How much does your 5 or 6 week old eat?

I was just wondering how much other 5 & 6 week olds were eating at one feeding. I recently took my DS2 to my LC & weighed, nursed, then weighed him again. He took in 5 & 1/2 oz. He was 5 weeks & 5 days (he's 6 wks today) & weighed 13 lbs 6 oz. What's others' LOs eating?

Five ounces at one feeding would be on the high end of "normal". IIRC, you have experienced overproduction, so that could definitely account for some of the volume your baby is taking in per feeding.

The research tells us that exclusively breastfed babies take in an average of 25 oz (750 mL) per day between the ages of 1 month and 6 months. Different babies take in different amounts of milk; a typical range of milk intakes is 19-30 oz per day (570-900 mL per day.
