Default Bms once a day okay?

    Hi ladies,

I know that bfed babies can go without bms for a little bit. I haven't had that happen often but it comes hand in hand with my son going only once a day every other day. Sometimes he goes twice, smxs not.. He's been doing this for about two months now and I was wondering if this was okay. He's done this before but then gone back to having around 5 bms a day within a month. I sort of expected the same thing to happen this time but it isn't. Is it because he's so disctractable he isn't getting enough? When he does go its more than enough -I had to buy him a size up in diapers to contain it all since he was ruining all his clothes...

Thanks, I know this is an exciting subject

If he's wetting the normal amount of diapers, and the stools seem normal, then its within the range of normal. Very fun topic, indeed!

Sounds exactly like my DD...sometimes once a day, sometimes every other day.

Yeah, for the past couple months, DD has only been going a few times a week. A couple times, it was almost a week between BMs, and then it was the mother load ! From what I've read, it's very normal for this age. If everything else seems right on (enough wet diapers, acting ok), it sounds just fine.

My baby's always been a once-a-week pooper. No worries! So long as it's not hard, black, or bloody when it does come, my doc told me there's nothing to worry about!

It is fine, and here's why: babies' guts mature as they get older, which allows them to absorb more of what they eat. So, same amount (or more) milk in and less waste out. All bets are off once solids are started, though. . . prompting my DH to suggest that we wait on solids until our son is done potty learning.

that is so tempting, isn't it? We had our first solids poop a few days ago. Man, can those clear out the room!
