Default at 9months, what's important, BM or solids?

I have a question and I need some suggestions. It's my springbreak (i'm a teacher) so i get to spend a whole week with LO. DS does not take a bottle and normally he would just eat solid (breakfast and lunch) mixed with BM and drink BM (still trying to teach him how) using a sippy cup. He nurses when I get home and then eat dinner (solids), then nurse again before going to bed. Now that I am on springbreak, DS prefers to nurse whenever he sees me messing up his "solid food routine/sched". Is it ok to skip solid food? I know my pedia would say give him solid food, but i want to know BF moms' opinion about it.

    thanks.

Do both! Nurse first, then offer solids. Enjoy that baby this week. Don't worry about pressuring yourself. You do that enough as a working, nursing mommy.

I offered nursing before solids until a year. Then I switched to solids before nursing. Up until a year most of the nutrition is from mommy milk.

That's what I was going to say. Up to a year, food is mainly to get baby used to different flavors, textures, and to discover possible allergies. Enjoy your break!

Just nurse on demand and give baby whatever solids he'll eat beyond that. To answer your question, he is getting what he needs primarily from your milk right now!

From one teacher to another, you deserve a gold star for being such a good mommy!

I agree, LO knows how much mommy milk he needs! DD is 21 months now and will often "skip meals" because she nurses so much when we're together. I just figure she's making up for lost time. (Are you sensing a twinge of guilt in this post? )
