    Default Afraid To Poop

What do you do for a LO who was constipated and is now afraid to poop? K had a few rough BMs and is now afraid to go. She's not afraid to sit on the potty, just afraid to poop. What to do?

    how old is she again?
I give me dd over the counter fiber but shes much older 4 years old
I started giving her a little bit at 2 years.

She can only have 1/2 a bannana in a day or she will have trouble for sure so I get the smallest bannana I can find because she loves them.

have you looked at dr sears link?
it has some great tips that would help

Have you mentioned it to your pediatrician? They will often have some suggestions based on your specific situation.

I've been giving her more fiber: raisins, figs, greens.

We've passed the constipation stage, she's just afraid to go. I guess thinking of the last two times and that it hurt. So it's more pyschological at this point.

    She's 20months tomorrow!

wow 20 months, I would give the doctor a call and see what he says...
    Thats a tough one.
You don't want them to be afraid of going...
the one little gal I baby sat for would have trouble after being with her mom and eating junk all week end.. she had luck with apple sauce.
And by the end of the week she would be fealing beter.
Pooping shouldn't be hard! You should just sit and go.

    Miralax, Miralax, Miralax.

My little boy was pee trained WAY before poop trained because of painful poops. He was so constipated that he couldn't sit on his rocking horse and when he went to the bathroom he'd hide (if using a diaper) or have me hold him while he screamed and cried on the toilet. We tried fiber, stressful and painful enemas, even (EEW!) mineral oil, and everything was a failure. At last someone prescribed Miralax and -Voila!- he could poop with no problem and was instantly toilet trained. This was when he was three years old, if you can imagine going through that much pain for that long!
