My baby is 9.5 months. He has been suffering from constipation since we started solids at 6 months, but before that he would go 15+ days between bowel movements. That started at about 4 months. When I say chronic constipation, I mean his face turns purple, he screams in agony, and it makes him bleed because it is so large and rock hard. Now I've tried everything I can find including...
the p foods
no more baby cereal
benefiber(just increased quantity not consistency)
we have been to two specialist
started going to the chiropractor last week
he won't drink juice or water
I breastfeed on demand, tried to get him to bf more often, but that just got me bit
Also, he has very underweight. Not even on the charts (16 pounds 10ounces) He meets his milestones extremely late (isn't crawling, didn't roll over until 7 months).
Is there something I'm missing here. I know I am grasping at straws here, but I'm hoping someone here might have some insight. The specialist wants to put him on laxatives, but I really don't want to go that route. I want to figure out what is causing the problem, not mask it.
