    Default Breastfeeding & the flu

I know that baby won't get my cold/flu from BF, but because I'm touching him pretty much all day I was hoping for some advice on how to best prevent him from getting my cold!!! (other than handwashing, no kisses...)

And while I'm asking... because we can't take anything while BF, what can I do for me???

There is no cure for the common cold of course but these steps can sure give you some relief

    1. run a cool mist humidifier
    2. saline drops for your nose (completely safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding)
    3. shower soothers are GREAT. If you can't afford them or don't feel like going out simply sitting in the shower steam will help as well
    4. drink plenty of fluids.

You can also buy tissues with vicks in them. I haven't tried them but heard they were great. http://www.puffs.com/en_US/pages/pro...th_vicks.shtml

You're already doing the best thing you can in his prevention of getting sick by breastfeeding Hope you feel better soon!

You can take Tylenol while breastfeeding (http://www.drjacknewman.com/index.ph...=99&Itemid=130), and my doctor told me that Tylenol Cold & Flu was also safe, though it does say "consult a physician..." so you may want to ask your own doc.
