    Default Stinky Gas

Does you LO have those? Mine are so frequent and oderous that we have to open his room window a few times a day - thankfully the weather's mild here He's 7 weeks old, exclusively BF, pees alot but only poops once a week - would that have anything to do with it? Otherwise he has very little gas cramps - he passes them fairly easily - they just stink - is it something I'm eating?

our lil' stinker does the same, and his farts are L-O-U-D! my husband and i thought, "this can't be normal" but from what i've heard,...it is. shocking that such a cute lil' thing could emit such oderous and loud farts, eh?
mine doesn't poop as much either at 8 wks...that's a good question to see if maybe that has anything to do with why it smells so bad.
    oh...and welcome to the forum!

My ds had the stinkiest toots even though he was ebf-they could clear the room. He, too, only pooped once a week. I was concerned and asked my ped. Everything was fine.

My son's old man name (Roger) matches his old man gas (loud and gag-me-with-a-spoon strong).
    ...wow, I can't believe we've been
    for 10 months!

It's totally normal and will always smell worse when your baby isn't going every day. Because it's up there and the gas has to pass it everyday until the poop comes out. My DH used to wear DJ in the sling and used to stand in front of the fan when the baby farted!

Dd had the best smelling poops and gas. Really. No smell, for the most part, when she was EBF. Ds? Awful. Stinky. But he has weird poop too. Yeah--no two are alike.

yeah, my dd has always had lots of gas, but when she went from pooping everyday to every few days, the gas got much stinkier. Seems to be normal...

Well I'm glad mine bundle of joy is not the only stink bomb out there.
He's seriously put to shame my DH and that's quite a feat!
My mother-in-laws suggested to use a rectal thermometer to induce pooping - I'm not so keen on the idea, I figure he'll poop when he needs to - right?

Yes he will! Please don't traumatize him like that!!! Breastfed children often will go 7-10 days without pooping and it's NO PROBLEM! If it's the color and consistency of peanut butter, your good. If it hard dark pellets than you have some constipation! So as long as it looks like peanut butter you are fine! It's just another perk of breastfeeding. You don't always have to change poopy diapers everyday!!
