Default Herbs and "natural" products safe??

I use several cleaners, cosmetics and personal care products which contain various herbs. I have read that a nursing mother should be careful when using some herbs due to a potential harm to the baby. I am unsure if this is only when the herbs are taken internally; unsure which herbs; unsure if certain amounts are safe, etc.???

Is there a trusted website, book, or other resource to learn more about herbs/natural products and their safety for nursing moms?
