    Default Is It Possible To...

i'm a 19 yr old mother. i have a 14 week old son, i gave him breastmilk and breastfed him with a nipple shield around the first 6-8 weeks of his birth then breastfeeding got too complicated, he wouldnt latch....i was depressed...ect. so i quit pumping and gave him formula in a bottle. i want to go back to bf fully. i can squeeze and if i squeeze a little hard i can get some milk out of my nipples. i have an electric pump, i just started taking fenugreek tonight, and i have mothers milk tea...

is there anything else i can do to help bring back milk fully and to get him to start latching?

How wonderful you want to try again!

It is possible and you are a good candidate for relactation. You have not been away from producing milk for too long (about 6 weeks, right?)

I would suggest you check out our FAQ's above and also there are lots of good articles on this under "Breastfeeding Resources"

If you can I would suggest working with an IBCLC or local LLL Leader.

Will ds take your breast now? Even for comfort? Any time he will, let him!

Lots of skin-to-skin time, bathing together, co-sleeping with all help.

Pumping at least 8 times a day is important.

    Is the pump a rental?

    Good luck!
