Default do you pump milk at night when your baby sleeps

My baby is starting to sleep through the night although its still hard to predict when he's getting up for a feed. my breasts are too engoreged that i cant sleep through the night. i dont know if i should pump some BM and how much to pump. i am afraid the more i pump, the more milk i produce. i tried pumping a little bit to relieve the discomfort and still have enough to feed him if he gets up anytime. yet, it doesnt help much. when will i get to sleep through the night without the discomfort?

I would try and wake baby and get them to feed before I would pump...
    How old is your baby?

I'd express a little to relieve the engorgment and if you are wanting to pump to store some milk, it's fine to do that, but just know that you will be making more milk When I do pump (which isn't often) I usually do it in the morning. I tried to in the middle of the night once, but the manual pump was squeaking so much I had to leave the room from my DD and DH and then I'm thinking..."what the heck am I doing up at 3am when the baby's asleep??"
