Default Need more comfy nursing position for large 9 mth old.

I could really use some help with nursing positions. We started at the beginning with the cross cradle hold and it has now morphed into her head on a pillow on one knee and her bottom on the other knee. I don't hold her head anymore and this causes me to lean forward and my back is killing me. Can anyone help describe some other positions or ways that I can support her so I can sit back? She is pretty big and heavy so it is hard to hold her. I would really appreciate any suggestions!

Well, my son is 22 pounds, and we nurse with his head resting on my arm, and I lean back. My arm is resting on a small but firm pillow, and I keep a small pillow behind my back. I am pretty small busted, not sure if that has anything to do with it.

We went back to using the boppy pillow. I got away from it for awhile, but then we went back now that my son is big like your baby. He's 23 lbs and 10 months old.

We cradle hold with the boppy. We have a hard time nursing without it, actually . . so we keep one in the car!

Normally at home, we go and lie down in the dim bedroom simply because he's so distractable and huge (9 months on the 17th, 30lbs and 30"). Failing that we use a big cushion on the couch, cradle hold except I don't hold him. He rests his upper body on it with his butt in my lap.

If I have to support his weight my bicept starts quivering long before he's done so I usually sit him beside me with his feet facing towards my back or putting his legs round my waist, and nurse him sitting up. He likes that although he's more prone to pinching and grabby boobie examination that way.

I don't think DD is even 19lbs yet but we cradle hold with her legs wrapped around my side and sometimes she doesn't want to lay down to nurse so I'll sit her in my lap facing me, wrap her legs around my waist and she leans forward. That way she can still sorta look around.

The best way for me is laying down on the bed or couch and I put two pillows under me and my bottom arm under the pillows!! sitting up was getting uncomfortable for me! she likes it better too!!
