How often on average should a 3 month old be nursing a day?

My son BFs every 2 1/2-3 hours even thru the night, and ususally for 20-40 minutes(15-20 each side). Now if I do what my pedi wants he would be eating every 3-4 hours and only for 20 minutes total, but I do what Rowdy wants instead.

My dd nurses still about every two to three hours during the day w/ a longer stretch at night and then every three hours for the rest of the night...she's four months old. Every baby is different, I know around three months I was worried that she still ate too frequently, but she doesn't nurse for as long anymore so it's not as time consuming.

My baby is almost three months old and he feeds every 2-3 hours for about 15-20 minutes. He occasionally snacks for 5 minutes. I Still haven't figured out why he is doing that....maybe he wants to see if I am still here . At night he might go 4 hours but it is usually still 2-3.

I feed my 3 month old on demand and that comes to about every 2-3 hours--and still at night. At night, we sometimes get a 4 hour stretch.

Thanks everyone Jackson slept 8 hours straight last night. He has always been up nursing every 2-4 hours at night. I immediately worried about my supply issues. I woke up engorged in the left breast and the right breast was still soft. What is up with that? That same breast is also the one that doesn't produce much at all. How many nursings should he get in a day so I don't have to worry about supply issues? Also he went for a doctor visit today and he weighs 13 pds 13.3 ounces and he will be 3 months on Friday. Doctor was very pleased. He had a 5 pound weight gain in two months. Doctor said since he was breastfed the weight gain was fine if he was formula fed we would have had a problem.

When my dd was 3mo, she ate about 6 times a day. She slept through the night for about 7 hours I did not wake her up for feeding.

Your breasts will eventually adjust to the no more night feedings, I wouldnt worry! If you feel you are engorged I\you can always pump, Thats how I stacked up on my supply in the beginning
