Default What do you call it?

We are approaching Joseph's first birthday and it appears his first word is Mum-mum-mum which he always does when he wants to nurse. No big suprise since nursing is his favorite thing to do. Should I start calling it that to or continue to say "nurse"? This is new ground for us... my daughter self weaned at 9 months.

So I am curious... what do your little ones call it?

I've always just said "milk", which is what DS calls it now. I think you should call it whatever you're comfortable having your LO scream in the grocery store. DH tried to be funny when DS was little calling it "titty sauce" or other ridiculous names. I did not like the idea of having a 2yo screaming "I WANT MY TITTY SAUCE" in the middle of Target. Milk, nurse, nummies, etc would have been fine with me, but milk was the one that stuck.

Always just been "milk" for us too.
Mainly because that's just what it is, and my boys don't have any other kind of milk anyway. But it does have the benefit that if they say "Can I have some milk" when we're out, and I say "I'll give you some when we get home" or something, nobody bats an eyelid. Not that I'm ashamed of nursing them in the slightest, but I don't relish being judged by total strangers for doing so either, IYSWIM?

I agree with PP. I call it nursie. She doesn't actually talk yet, but I wanted something that I wouldn't be embarassed to hear her say later.
