    Default reflux?

My LO is sometimes fussy after eating and spits up a bit. How do you tell if its gas or reflux? Anyone know? About once a day he cries and cries hard after a feeding...thinking its gas but not sure.

any suggestions on what to do for either?

The only way to be certain that your child is suffering from GERD is to have a pH probe done -- that measures the acid in the esophagus. Many babies are diagnosed based on symptoms, however, which can be a bit tricky since things like gas coupled with "happy spitting" and over-active letdown can create some similar symptoms. If you are concerned, be sure to speak to your pediatrician about it.

You can find a great deal of information about reflux in the reading room at www.reflux.org.

    Hope that helps!

You described my son when he was a couple months old. I could not figure out what was wrong with him, so I finally took him in and they diagnosed reflux. He was much happier once he started the medication.
