    Default before weaning...

Is there anything you can do before stopping breastfeeding that will increase your chance of relactation for later?

Relactating assumes that the mother has, at some time, brought in a milk supply. However, it is also possible to induce lactation in a woman who has never even been pregnant, let alone nursed a baby.

Is there any particular reason for asking this question?
Are you anticipating having to stop nursing for a time with the intention of resuming it later?
For example, there are a VERY few medications which are contraindicated while nursing and do not have acceptable alternatives. Some mothers who need to take these meds wean temporarily. but continue to pump and dump their milk until it is safe to nurse again.
Please let us know your particular situation so that we can offer more specific information.
