    Question grapes

My DD is 12 months old and self feeds like a champ. When I give her grapes I cut them in quarters and cut the peel off. My question is do I need to still take off the peel?

I never have when I've given them, even when DD was younger than that.

I have never peeled them, only quartered them. I would say by now she should be able to handle them with the skin on.

Nope. I still half them at two but I never peeled any fruit because I want my son to have the nutrients.

I've never taken off the peel.

I usually cut them in half. Recently DS (17 mo) grabbed some whole ones from the bowl and ate them very happily. I think he likes the feeling when they "pop" in his mouth and now prefers whole ones to being cut. We ONLY let him have whole grapes with close supervision, and when we send grapes with him to preschool we ALWAYS cut them up.

ETA: the grape skins often come through pretty intact in DS poop ... but this is OK

    Not even bananas?

And I don't peel them either, just halve them.

No. Are you supposed to peel a banana? What about oranges? I thought they were supposed to be really really chewy!

I would peel them if they're not organic. Or just buy organic.

Oh, but you're probably talking about as a choking hazard. I think as long as it's not whole it's okay.
