Unhappy Still doesnt have enough neck support

DD (almost 5 months) still has'nt got enough neck support and I have to keep holding her head when I carry her.Maybe the BM i'm giving her is not nutritois enough

And also she does'nt show any interest in roll over also. I keep swadling her whenever she goes to sleep so she does'nt get disturbed. Is this causing her not to roll over ?

Is she missing her developmental milestone ?

Anyways to stimulate her to do the activies ?

    TIA

BM isn't the reason, was she a preemie? Preemies tend to reach milestones later than usual. A lot of tummy time, putting stuff in front of her bringing them up and down and side to side so she start following them; put her sideways with something on her back and a toy next to her so she can try to reach it causing her to roll over. If I get more ideas I'll post them later. Also have you mention this to her ped? I really don't know at what age this would be a real concern but at five months I'll think they should have good neck support unless she was a preemie. The best thing you should do is bring this up to her ped.

I found this link from BabyCenter.com . The first one is head control milestone and the second one is warning signs of physical development delay. Hopefully this put you at ease or at least inform you to get help.

    are you in the states?
you might want to call early intervention in your state they can help!
They might even have somebody that would come out to your house and see they baby.
Call your local lll leader they might know who to contact.

Can you post more details about him "not eating properly"? Maybe we can help.

This thread caught my eye because my daughter has pretty bad reflux and was not eating well or gaining weight for a couple of months. At around 5 months I felt that she was not as strong as she should be. I rented a scale from an LC and found that she was drinking less than 20 oz per day. Her GI doctor said that was just enough to stay hydrated but not really enough to help her gain weight properly.

Luckily just as I was about to take her to the pediatrician for the development concerns, she started outgrowing the reflux and eating better. Within one week she was much stronger. She started sitting up almost on her own and bearing weight on her legs. It really is amazing how much difference it made when she was getting enough milk.

How much does your little one weigh and how much was he at birth? Does he have enough wet diapers each day?

Even my DD was diagonized with reflux when she was 3 month old.
DD is drinking may be 10 ounce during day and around 5-6 ounce during night.Did u give medication for reflux ?During day time she takes from bottle.she gets formula in the afternoon and evening. My pump output is very low.And I feed her during night time.I can surely see that during her night time feeding also she is not eating much.I'm just wondering her reflux has increased.Reflux is killing me I'm really not interested to take her to pedi b'cos only thing she does is ask me to increase the dosage of medication.

Did u do anything specifically to outgrow her reflux ?
She is not showing any interest in roll over also.

Yes, dd is on Prevacid. She started out on Zantac, which is VERY dependent on their weight. If they are not taking enough for their weight, it will not work at all. So the ped had to increase her dose frequently until she was at the maximum dose for her weight and then she couldn't take any more. At that point, she completely stopped nursing. She was just in too much pain and the only way I could get her to nurse was when she was asleep or sleepy.

Finally we went to a specialist who put her on Prevacid. Within 4 days she was nursing again like a normal baby. However, your milk supply depends on how much your baby nursed in the past 24-48 hrs (I have heard variations on this but it seemed true for us). So of course when she wanted to eat more I did not have enough milk for her. I started taking fenugreek (1 capsule 3 times a day from GNC store) and my supply increased. Also nursing frequently and pumping about 3 times a day helped.

She would still only take about 20 oz and she still choked and gagged a little, even on the Prevacid. But at about 5 months she started getting better. I didn't do anything to cause this, I think her digestive system just started maturing.

My specialist said they should take 24-32 oz per day at this age. I think that number is high according to some sources because it may be based on babies who drink formula, but I would think that 16 oz or even 20 oz is way too low.

If I were you I would take the baby to the pediatrician and see a lactation consultant as well. Your baby will be able to get the right dose of medication from the ped, and the LC will be able to help you with your milk supply. If she drinks formula as well, the pediatrician might be able to recommend a formula that would be easier to digest for the reflux.

I don't think the rolling over is a big deal but she should have pretty good head control at 5 months. I bet if you could get at least 24 oz a day in her for a couple of weeks you might see a difference. And then if not, you could call early intervention. It is free and like a PP said, they will come to your house.
