Default He bit me so hard I bled

Yesterday evening DS bit me so hard he made my nipple bleed. (And then he heard some new words from mummy!)

It is really sore - he scraped a bit of skin off, which is now red and swollen, and there is a little puncher wound.

Is there anything I can do to make it less sore and help it heal quicker?

I have to continue feeding him from that side as he takes both sides every feed.

I'm really scared of him getting his top teeth - he might bite my whole nipple off!

    Ouch! That hurts so bad.
    Here's a link about nipple healing: http://www.kellymom.com/bf/concerns/...lehealing.html

Starting a feeding on the uninjured side helps. Switch to the painful side once the vigorous sucking has passed. I always liked expressing some milk onto a washcloth and keeping it inside my bra. Seemed to speed healing. But don't do that if you are prone to thrush. IME (and unfortnately I have LOTS of experience) he pain usually goes away after 2 days.

Here's a couple mor links all about biting and prevention. Prevention is the key.

    Hope you feel better soon!

Medela makes plastic shells that you put over your nipples so they can heal. They go over the nipple, and the nipple does not touch anything. I use them, and put my nursing pads over the shells. They have helped me out tremedously. My daughter was tongue tied and pinched me so bad that I was honestly going to give up breastfeeding. My lactation consultant told me to try the shells first, and they have made all the difference. Babies r us has them, or you can order them online...they were around $15 I think for the pair. Good luck!
