    Lightbulb Breast Milk Donating

I have been thinking about donating breast milk. Has anyone had experience with this?

I felt really good about it. I didn't go the standard way though. I donated directly to a mom with an adopted baby in NC through this place: http://milkshare.birthingforlife.com/
You end up needing a copy of your pregnancy lab work to share with your receiving family. If you need additional tests they pay for them. I have a cute little picture of the girl I helped out with my 19 oz a day extra. Really positive experience for me, although I am sure it varies from person to person.

I donated to the Human Milk Bank of North America in Raleigh.

    They were very nice.

I've heard bad things about some donation places... using the milk in research studies and some weird sketchy stories... mostly through milkshare. I wasn't able to find a good match to donate my milk to directly.

"I donated 300 oz of BM in just 5 days"

    HOW DID YOU DO THAT?

I wasn't sure how much milk it was safe/OK to donate per day. Anyone have any advice on how they donated lots of milk quickly? How do we know how much we can safely give w/o taking from our own babies? How did you do it? What kind of pump, how many times per day etc. ANY advice would help!

    THANKS

I just completed the online questionnaire thru Prolacta. I should be getting a call from them within a week. I would also like to hear other experiences.

I highly suggest going with hmbana rather than the national milk bank/prolacta. Prolacta is one of those that does some shady stuff with the milk, and the do actually make a huge profit from the donated milk. Not sure about milkshare, as I've no experience with them.
