    I don't do purees myself. I do make stock/broth, and the meat you use to make the broth is so tender afterwards that you can shred it, mash it, or just hand it to the LO and it's perfect!

    Thanks for the meat suggestions. I am nervous about feeding it so early though (6 months). I will ask the Pedi on Tues what he thinks.

    Regular old quick cooking oats with a little cinnamon and apple sauce (or more recently pumpkin puree) mixed in.

    I gave salmon as a first meat. It is so flaky when cooked right.

    For poultry, cook it until it is falling apart, then cut or bite it into pea sized bits.

    Have you seen the jar "meat" paste baby food?! Uggh!

    Reminds me of my baby shower. My sister passed around little diapers with baby food in them for us to smell and try to figure out which flavors they were. That stuff is naaasty!! It's also how I first found out about BLS from my relatives. They didn't call it that though, it was just the easiest and most economical way to feed a baby - straight to table food!
